Circa 2018, I received a grant from Conservation International to shoot the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge in the remote Aleutian Islands - truly a dream assignment. But every trip has its moments - at one point we took off from a remote dirt runway & gas started leaking from the side of our small plane, prompting a hasty landing to assess the situation. We spent every second with our faces pressed to the window & camera burst set to High - we marveled at the light casting dramatic lines on the active volcanoes. Capturing that wild part of our planet meant a lot to me, contributing my craft to preserve memories of such a remote and beautiful land.
