In December 1831 Charles Darwin set off on the historic journey that would lead him to write the epic volume “The Origin of Species”. This was a book that would not only begin a scientific revolution but would also change our perception of humanity and of our position in the world. Along the expedition Darwin spent a few months in the near Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, looking for wasps, flatworms, frogs, spiders and orchids. My Assistant Lars-Magnus and I were traveling in the wake of Darwin around South America for and we ended up working in many of the locations where Darwin conducted his research in 1832.
