photographed these tree-climbing lions in Uganda and lions in South Africa. Just a century ago there were perhaps 500,000 lions roaming the African continent. Today an estimated 16,000 - 30,000 remain. Research by lion biologist Hans Bauer projects that lions in much of West, East and Central Africa will decline by 50% in the next two decades without focused conservation efforts.We will be working on projects to report on the threats that face them—and to highlight successful conservation efforts.
